Vortex Optics Launches Long Range Ballistics Calculator and Custom Turret Service

without comments

Vortex Optics Launches Long Range Ballistics Calculator and Custom Turret ServiceIt’s a huge trend and doesn’t appear to be slowing down. Seemingly everyone today wants to maximize the full potential of their rifle and extend their effective hunting range.

Vortex optics met the high level of interest in long range shooting and hunting head on by launching its Long Range Ballistics Calculator (LRBC) program and Trajectory Matched Turret (TMT) custom turret service on its Web site.

Anyone can use the LRBC program to generate custom drop charts for specific rifles and preferred loads – and it’s free. Use the charts as references while hunting, to make ballistic comparisons etc. The data is yours. Data entered is stored and can be accessed and adjusted in each users individual account.

Custom, laser-cut TMT turrets are built using data entered into the LRBC program. Vortex TMT turrets give hunters and shooters the ability to quickly and accurately dial elevation when presented with a long range shot. Range the target, turn the knob to the corresponding marked yardage and hold dead on – it’s that simple. Of course, there is the human element involved. That’s where practice, knowing your equipment and learning to judge variables like wind velocity come in.

The new Web services are a natural fit for Vortex – After all, you can’t hit what you can’t see and many of Vortex’s riflescopes are ideally suited for long-range work.

“It’s a great tool for our customers,” said Joe Hamilton, Vortex Optics national sales manager. “Today’s rifles, calibers and modern ammunition coupled with an appropriate riflescope give hunters and shooters capabilities unheard of just a few years ago. 300 yards used to be a pretty long shot – today, armed with the right equipment, knowledge and practice, accurate shots 600 yards and beyond aren’t uncommon.”

To check out the exciting new programs, visit www.vortexoptics.com and click on the LRBC button.

Vortex Fury Binoculars

without comments

Hank and his brother were lost. Their canoe sliced through the crystal clear water of the Current River. The sun had set a few minutes ago, and a spooky darkness was spilling out of the woods. Hank leaned forward, pulling out his non-slip grip, 25.7 oz, Vortex Fury Binoculars. He appreciated that their center diopter allowed him to make focusing adjustments without taking his eyes off his target. His 12.5×42 roof prism has an all-season construction and like all Vortex Fury Binoculars, it has fully multi-coated lenses that allow for increased light transmission. The phase correction used on the roof prism models enhances the resolution and contrast while the silver-coated prisms increase light transmission through the prism block, giving an exquisite image across the dark water. “Looks like we’re coming up on a gravel bar,” he muttered back to his brother, who steered the canoe.

“Is there a road?” A note of tension hung in his brother’s voice. Neither of them wanted to be on this river at night. They had heard the stories. There were things that came out of the Ozark hills at night. Rumors of Missouri cougars, and black bears, and Bigfoot.

His brother peered through his own binoculars, a Vortex Fury 10×32, a great all purpose binocular that weighs only 20 oz. Slightly smaller in size, it offers high magnification, clarity, contrast and excellent detail. Their tapered multi-position eyecups fit snugly against his eyes. “Looks like there’s someone there.” He sounded relieved.

They floated closer, and Hank got an eerie feeling. The Vortex Fury picked out the details on the person. He had entirely too much hair. “I think we should go back,” Hank whispered.

“I think you’re right.” His brother paddled backwards furiously. But the current dragged them around the bend, toward the shallows of the gravel bar. The hairy hulking shape moved toward them, across the gravel, it would break out of the willows and get them.

Ice seemed to slither down Hank’s collar. His brother had left their gun and GPS on their parents’ kitchen counter this morning. At that moment, the creature burst out of the willows and both boys jerked, flipping the canoe.

The water was frigid, his Vortex Fury was drenched, but the optics were waterproof, sealed with O ring technology and the fog-proof barrels would keep the change in temperature from messing up their performance. The canoe floated downstream as Hank and his brother scrambled for their things. Hank’s hand clasped the edge of the canoe, and he dragged his feet. His brother caught on the canoe and they glanced at the creature on the gravel bar. It was a bear. It glanced at them, shook itself, and pondered back into the willows. The boys looked at each other, shivering. They pulled up on the gravel bar. “Should we just spend the night here?” His brother asked.

“Heck no,” Hank replied. “I’m not waiting for that bear to come back.”

“Yeah.”

Hank peered down the river with his Vortex Fury Binoculars. There was another clearing not too far downstream. And he saw, yes, there it was. The curving line of the back of their truck which he would have never seen if not for the optical power of his Vortex Fury. “We’ll tell them it was Bigfoot.”

His brother grinned and they headed for home.

Vortex Razor Binoculars

without comments

“Turning on my X ray vision.” My wacky friend, Jason, leaned out of my pickup, pulling out his Vortex Razor Binoculars, scanning the field before I even parked. He’s the craziest birdwatcher that I’ve ever met. I know, I know, birding’s not exactly the kind of activity where you’d find unusual people. But Jason’s taken the sport and turned it into something that he calls, “high impact adventure birding.” What does that mean? He makes bird watching into an athletic competition. First, he’s always running between birding sites. He says it’s like aerobic golf.

His Vortex Razor Binoculars are about as close to superhuman vision as one can get. They take advantage of the latest engineering and high-definition glass technology to deliver incredible natural color distinction, even in the dim light of dusk or dawn. The details they bring out make bird watching amazing. And though they’re not giving him X ray vision, he might as well be a superhero, what with the views they give him.

We get into the field and he runs for a small tree in the middle. I run after him, no easy feat what with the brush grabbing my boots. When I join him, he’s hunkered down at the ground and he’s scanning the field. “You sense it? That itching on your eyebrow? There’s a Cape May warbler here for sure.” Enthusiasm in his gullet, he proceeds to do his bird calls. He can puff up his neck and trill like a grackle, and I’ve seen him strut through the underbrush with both hands in front of his face, flapping his fingers and getting a real warbling mourning dove cry.

I settle next to him and bring out my own Razor. The ArmorTek advanced-performance multilayered lens coating gives me the best image I’ve ever seen in a pair of binoculars. And I’m going to be able to go all day with Jason, my Razor is beautifully balanced and the multi-positioned eyecups reset quickly, making it a very comfortable pair of binoculars. Its got long eye relief, and through argon gas purging, is fully waterproof and fog-proof. The Vortex Razor 8×42 is only 29.4 oz and has a 410 ft. field of view at 1000 yards. This rugged binocular will last me a lifetime.

We’re in luck. There’s the Cape May warbler. The songbird glides into a tree, and with my Razor I can see all the details. The yellow on the rump, the streaks on its back, the yellow almost-ring around its throat. Jason glances at me from the flared eyecups of his 8.5×50 Razor and adjusts his digital camera, mounting it to his eyepiece. His Razor, with its extra size in the objective and extra power in the magnification, really pulls in the details. Patented multi-layered lens and prism coatings give unmatched image quality. The XD glass brings truer color and detailing while the phase corrected roof prism surfaces are expertly cut, polished, and silver-coated. Only Vortex Razor Binoculars could produce the refined color and high definition images to catch the gloss of fear and surprise that lurks in the eyes of his subjects. You can tell that those birds aren’t used to seeing too many wacky guys.

VORTEX Diamondback 3.5-10×50 Riflescope, V-Plex Reticle, Matte Black (DBK-M-03P)

without comments

Lisa”The VORTEX Diamondback 3.5-10×50 Riflescope, V-Plex Reticle, Matte Black (DBK-M-03P) is ideal for big game, predator/varmint, muzzleloader, slug shotgun, and long range applications.

Vortex knows good hunting gets all the better with high quality optics. For that reason, Vortex makes sure every glass surface of the Diamondback is fully multi-coated to transmit 91% of the light – delivering the bright details you need when taking aim.

The solid one-piece aircraft-grade aluminum alloy construction makes the Diamondback riflescope virtually indestructible and highly resistant to magnum recoil. Argon purging puts waterproof and fogproof performance on the agenda, and advanced fully multi-coated optics raise an eyebrow when crystal clear, tack-sharp images appear in the crosshairs.

Precision-Glide Erector System features premium-grade fluoropolymer teflon resin bushings that provide exceptional resistance to stress cracking, temperature change, corrosion, and friction-induced wear. In addition, these bushings have an ultra-low coefficient of friction for the smoothest possible operation of the magnification adjustment.

The V-Plex reticle is the single best, and most popular, all-purpose hunting reticle. It is intended for a wide variety of hunting applications.

The Diamondback 3.5-10×50 Riflescope comes with removable lens covers, dust cloth and the VIP Unconditional Lifetime Warranty.
